Karl Lauterbach, German Health Minister of the Social Democratic Party of Germany SPD, in an interview on Jan 27th 2025 suddenly wants to talk about migrant criminality and mental illness. This comes of course just before the federal election of next month, as the populist AfD is on its way to become the largest party in Germany. For the last 10 years, all parties other than AfD blasted all statistics of “violent, mentally ill migrants” as a far-right conspiracy theory. Lauterbach:
“We know that among refugees, psychological illness is far, far higher, the dark numbers are not known exactly, but we assume it could be up to 30%, that means it’s a very, very large group.”
“And there are a lot of violent ones among them. In my opinion, we don’t have the right solutions yet, this must be addressed definitely, it cannot be a taboo.”
“These are no singular cases. “
For the last 10 years, all politicians other than AfD and all media declared millions of instances of violent migrant crimes as “singular cases”.
Two days later, the party leader of the AfD and candidate for chancellor, Alice Weidel was attacked with a laser pointer from the spectator area during a speech in the Bundestag.
