In my article Climate Change Explained (on the front page, right hand side) I laid out why institutionalized alternative energy such as wind and solar don’t work. (Unless, you own a privat unit you have control over and you are able to maintain it). Even officials admit, that in some locations, energy net return of wind turbines “may be never”. And that’s in the course of the projected lifetime of 20 years, estimated for the relatively calm climate we’ve had in recent decades. In recent years, total loss of turbines by storms have become more common. If the progression into the Grand Solar Minimum continues, we are likely to see Nature take care of the disposal of these useless units.

Another 70m tall Turbine was felled by storm Burglinde on Jan 4th 2018 in Germany, Landkreis Schaumburg:
